For the record, Sera didn't write the episode. I don't remember who did, but it was someone else, and I'm too lazy to grab my copy and check. Not one of the main 4 that I know by name easily though. Lawrence someone, maybe? Not sure.
I love Bela, and Dean/Bela, in the way that I love that they totally shoot off sparks from their continued snarking and conflict. Of course, I tend to ship snarky couples, so that probably explains it pretty well. However, I don't really see her talking about Dean being "dumb" as her actually thinking he is. She goes out of her way to piss him off - hello, getting the Impala towed? So I think it's more a way to get under his skin. Same way Dean probably picked on Sam for always being a nerd, or how he does pick on Sam for being a girl all the time. I doubt he actually thinks of Sam as a girl/gay/whatever, but it's fun to mess with him. I think of it as largely the same way, personally.
Regardless, I had fun with this episode, but I do agree that the "not us - you" bit was unnecessary and didn't add anything. AHOY, MATEY! HERE BE PIRATES! :D
